Donna Jean is looking for a new Kitchen Manager to join our amazing team. We specialize in scratch cooking of artisan pizzas and pastas with a small focused menu to maintain consistency. Our hours of operations are 7 nights a week from 5-9p as well as some special events in the daytime.

Job Summary:

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring food quality, safety, cleanliness, and efficient workflow. This role includes supervising kitchen staff, managing inventory and ordering, ensuring compliance with California health and safety regulations, and supporting the overall success of the restaurant.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and coordinate activities of kitchen staff.

Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with company recipes, portioning, cooking, and serving standards.

Maintain compliance with California Health Code standards, including food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures.

Train, coach, and evaluate kitchen staff to ensure skill development and performance.

Monitor food costs, labor costs, waste, and portion control to meet budgeted targets.

Conduct regular inventory checks and place orders to maintain appropriate stock levels.

Collaborate with front-of-house management and the executive chef to coordinate kitchen operations.

Maintain all kitchen equipment and notify owner of issues when they arise.

Create staff schedules and ensure proper staffing levels based on business needs.

Manage food safety protocols, including ServSafe certification requirements and temperature logs.

Uphold workplace safety and enforce compliance with California labor laws including rest and meal break requirements.

Work on the line alongside cooks.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; culinary degree or certification preferred.

3+ years of kitchen management experience

Valid California Food Manager Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

Strong knowledge of food handling, preparation, and safety regulations.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
